Chapter Ten
“You shall know them by their fruits”
                                                                Part One

One of the greatest areas of contention within the body of Christ, is which version of God’s Holy Word do the people
place their trust?
Some insist that we must give new believers a Bible version that can be most easily understood in
today's English language. Others contend that the Word of God is unchanging and found in the English language only in the
King James Bible. Yet, even among those that hold to the King James Bible, there is disagreement on whether it is simply
the true, literal Word of God or whether it is also brought forth as an "inspired" translation.
Moreover, many who support
the King James Version do so only with the provision of referring to the original Greek or Hebrew to show the
hidden shades of meaning “lost” within the English version.
This is a subject of endless debate and vain disputations.
Each side is unyielding and set in stone against the other. Perhaps no other place within the body of Christ can we find a
single subject of such debate and divisiveness among true born again believers. Even fundamental, Bible believing Bible
colleges set forth position papers in support of their most cherished version in sharp debate against other colleges. Where
then can a young believer, unskilled in the history of the Bible and in the original languages turn for assurance on which
version to study? The surprising answers are found in the Scriptures themselves, specifically, the Revelation of Jesus Christ
to John.

This is a subject of no little importance. For the Bible itself states that the Word of God is God, making every
personal opinion on this issue of great importance in the eyes of our creator. We are told in the Gospel of John
Chapter 1:1&14:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten
of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

We, as believers, behold the Glory of His Word that was made flesh as of the only begotten of the Father. For the Scripture
tells us that all them that the Father gave to the Son have
“kept thy word,” and have “received” the words given to the
Son (John 17:6-8). Only those that have received the
“Word” believe on Him unto salvation. (John 1:11-12). Therefore,
each person needs to be fully persuaded in his own mind which answer is correct; especially since all men will one day be
judged by the
“Word” Himself (Romans 14:10, John 1:1,14, I John 5:7). He is the same “yesterday, and today, and
forever”
(Heb. 13:8; Malachi 3:6). Therefore those that gather together in the name of Jesus in Bible studies that encourage
the use of several different versions
“to gain more understanding” are deceiving themselves on the true nature of the
Word. It is
unchanging just as Jesus Christ changes not and is one with the Father and the Holy Ghost. Some contend that
we no longer have the complete Word of God, but the Scriptures say that He will preserve them forever (Psalm 12:6-7, I
Peter 1:25). His Word is true, unchanging and preserved forever.

Knowing that we must all individually give an account as the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries
of God (I Cor. 4:1), it is our duty to be certain that we have verified, to the best of our God given abilities, which
version the Lord has preserved in our own tongue.
Some assert that we must master the original Greek so that we can
certify the translation ourselves. Others eagerly offer to use their own knowledge of the original languages as an authority
that we can place our trust in for the answer. Therefore, direct examination of the manuscript evidence becomes the test for
these believers. Yet we must beware of the perversions that have befallen both the original manuscripts themselves and
perversions of the original languages. Therefore, even by searching for the answer in the original languages, there are many
pitfalls that could sabotage even the most diligent student.

But the Word of God says
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105). In John 17:
17, our Lord prayed unto His Father while in the Garden of Gethsemane that He would
“Sanctify them through thy
truth: thy word is truth.”
The question we must all answer is where then shall we place our trust, in original language
commentaries,
or in His Word alone. Has the Lord given every man the gift of languages (not the spiritual tongues) to
accurately translate? How many believers will have the knowledge, wisdom and talents of the King James translators today?
Yet my Bible says it alone will be the lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. The Scriptures challenge every believer to
search the Scriptures for they are they which testify of Jesus (John 5:39). I do not in the least diminish the importance of a
thorough understanding of the history of Bible translations and of the original manuscripts, yet it is our God that says we
must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). It is our God that says He will give wisdom liberally to all men who ask,
but asking only in faith with nothing wavering (James 1:5-8). It is our God who says in Jeremiah 29:13:

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

Then the answer on which version to use, as in all things with our Lord, is a spiritual test for those who will love Him and
receive His Word. If you ask in faith believing and in the name of Jesus Christ, He will give you the answer (John 14:13-
14).
Therefore, from the Scriptures alone do I search for God’s truth. The Bible tells us that the just shall live by faith.
This was the error that befell Israel, because they did not seek righteousness in faith believing (Romans 9:31-33), but
instead sought it
through the flesh. Therefore we must first believe that the Word is true when our Lord declares that He
will preserve His Word forever (Psalm 12:6-7, I Peter 1:25). Secondly, the Bible states that: “
My sheep hear my voice,
and I know them, and they follow me:”
(John 10:27). The children of Israel believed not His Word and hearkened not
unto the voice of the Lord (Psalm 106:24-25) bringing judgement to their land. Therefore, a true believer will hear His voice
in the words of the one true version alone.

Most Christians, however seek to know through the flesh through the study of the manuscripts in the original languages and
through a study of the history of the English-speaking versions. In this approach we may know the truth of the majority texts
from Antioch and the
Textus Receptus, versus the corrupted Alexandrian documents. But if the history and the
manuscript evidences were enough to convict the hearts of all believers alone, we would not have the debate and
strife on this subject that we do.
Yet, to the Glory of God, He has provided pure Scriptural evidence that the King James
Bible is not only the true, literal, complete and inspired Word of God, but also the
prophesied, true, literal, complete and
inspired Word of God. Therefore, for those that place their trust in our Lord and hear His voice, this shall be sufficient. But
for those that are not His sheep, they will still not believe, nor hear His voice (John 10:26).

In Matthew 7:15-20, the Bible tells us that we shall know them by their fruits.
“A good tree cannot bring forth evil
fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”
Therefore, those that are wolves in sheep’s clothing will be
known unto the true sheep by which manner of fruit that they bring forth. So too can we also know and judge which types
of
“trees” are the kings Constantine and James, and in so doing unlock the first Scriptural reference establishing the
prophetic fulfillment of the King James Bible.

In 313 A.D., Constantine shocked the Roman world when he granted religious toleration to Christians. Constantine offered
freedom from persecution to Christians and official status in a marriage between church and state. Yet Constantine never
repented of his sun god worship and continued to preside over pagan rituals. The costs to Christians for their “new found
freedom” included the onset of a relentless religious persecution against those that did not accept the new state run religion.

“I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is . . . ” Revelation 2:13a

Constantine recognized that the power of God could not be overcome by persecution and bloodshed. This king caused the
children of God to fall from the grace and glory of our Lord unto corruption and the polluting of the world. This king
triumphed over the people of God through those that ran greedily after the "error of Balaam" for reward (Jude 11-13). This
king was Constantine. When he made the concord with gainsaying Christians who accepted the Edict of Toleration, placing
their trust in the instruments of the devil, they forfeited their faithfulness, and the crown of life, for the temporal relief from
persecution and tribulation.

“But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who
taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to
commit fornication.”
Revelation 2:14

Many New Testament Bible believing Christians refused to participate in this concord with Belial, a marriage of the
believer with the infidel
(II Cor. 6:14-18). Constantine replaced Christ as the head of the church and created the
hierarchy of his church government based solely on the existing Roman government.
1 The principle of local New Testament
churches that have no authority over other churches was forsaken for the perversion of the
“Universal Catholic”
theocracy so formed. Constantine himself believed in baptism for his salvation and not on the saving grace alone of our Lord
Jesus Christ by His death, burial and resurrection. Indeed, this king commanded that he should receive baptism at the exact
moment of his last dying breath, for the mistaken belief that he would thereby be cleansed of all sins, but only those that he
committed before he was baptized. This is not a believer’s baptism.
For it is by his fruits that we know that this man,
the first earthly king to publicly declare he was a Christian, was instead a ravening wolf in “sheep’s” clothing.

In Revelation 2:12-14, from the mouth of our Lord Jesus Himself, He declares to us what the work of those at the church of
Pergamos was to be, where they dwelt, and even where Satan’s seat is. To the angel of this church, the Lord spake
against those among them that held the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before Israel that
they would eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. The Bible declares that Christians of this age would
teach a king that opposed the true church of Jesus Christ, to commit spiritual fornication against our Lord and to bow down
to idols. (Numbers 24:10-14, 25:1-3& 31:16). This trespass deliberately set the Lord against His own people to chastise
them.
Constantine thus overcame God's people by subjecting them to a system of idolatry and spiritual
fornication that became over time the Roman Catholic Church, which even today is filled with rites and
incantations that are actually idol worship.
This was directly at the advice of religious people who advised this pagan
king of the error of Balaam and how he taught Balac to entice Israel into sin and then God Himself would punish and curse
them.  Therefore, the intentions of this king were foretold in the book of Revelation more than two hundred years before it
came to pass.
The evil fruits of this concord lead to the corruption of God’s Holy Word by Jerome when he was
commissioned by Pope Damasus I to produce a Bible in the Latin language, thereby producing the corrupt Latin
Vulgate that prevented many people from learning from the true Bible.

And his fruits have remained throughout the ages in the false Christian church where Satan’s seat is.
These
include the selling of indulgences which they claimed would cleanse the purchaser of his sins, precluding the need to have a
repentant heart and be cleansed of all unrighteousness by the blood of Jesus alone. The evil fruit of Purgatory, which they
continue to teach as only a temporary place of punishment, diminishes the truth of the eternal damnation of the lake of fire.
The evil fruits of the banning of the Bible to “lay people” by the counsel of Toulouse in 1229 A.D. 2 The evil fruit
of the millions killed in the inquisitions that lasted centuries, of which their laws remain in full effect, awaiting the order of the
Grand Inquisitor who resides in the office of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith even unto today. The relentless
persecution of the true church has continued from the very time of the Edict of Toleration in 313 A.D. until today, but most
especially, of the evil fruit of the celebration of the mass where the wafer is offered unto the idol of the dead Jesus as they
sacrifice anew the
“Divine Victim.” Yet my Bible proclaims that Jesus, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever,
sat down on the right hand of God (Hebrews 10:12). Therefore by the evil fruits born of the king named Constantine, do we
know him. Yet the momentary triumph he had over the true church of God will not last. In Revelation 2:16, we read:

“Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”

Therefore, this false Christian church that started through the marriage of the Roman state with those in Christendom, who
taught Constantine to tempt the people to eat things sacrificed unto idols and to commit fornication unto false gods, has
borne its evil fruit through the many centuries.
By his fruit, we know him. And because of the evil and wicked fruit of this
church, the Lord rebukes those that continue to sacrifice unto idols and will not repent of their fornication. He promises that
He will come against this woman,
“that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth,” “where Satan’s seat
is,”
and fight against her by the two-edged sword which is the Word of God. This is the fruit of the evil tree called
Constantine.

“And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the
martyrs of Jesus. . .”
Revelation 17:6a

We now turn to the king named James. He was the son of Mary, Queen of Scots and the Great Grandson of King Henry
the Seventh.
3 In a brief review of English history, King Henry the Eighth broke from papal rule in 1534 after the pope had
denied the king’s request to divorce Catherine of Spain. Having a strong love for Anne Boleyn, the king renounced papal
authority and made himself the head of the church of England, and thereby granted his own divorce.
4 King Henry the
Eighth later burned William Tyndale at the stake for producing his English translation of the New Testament.

In 1534,
Tyndale produced a revised version, and began work on the Old Testament. In the next two years he completed
and published the Pentateuch and Jonah, and translated the books from Joshua through Second Chronicles, but then he was
captured (betrayed by one he had befriended), tried for heresy, and put to death.
His death was by strangulation and then
by fire while tied to a stake
.  His last words were, "Lord, open the King of England's eyes." This was a prayer that
the Lord honoured quickly

Thus, within a year of Tyndales’ death, Miles Coverdale produced the first complete English Old and New
Testament Bible which King Henry the Eighth officially sanctioned in a dramatic reversal.
5 With the burden of
the Roman Catholic church gone from this land, a small spark of religious freedom was born, yet Henry
continued to persecute those who did not submit to his authority over the Anglican Church.
6

After the death of King Henry the Eighth, his son Edward the VI was crowned king at the age of ten. Even at such an early
age, Edward was a born again Christian who loved the Word of God.
During the time of his short rule from 1548 until
his death at the age of sixteen, the Bible was printed in English and Christians enjoyed a refuge from the
ravages of the pope and his inquisitions.
7 This peace was short lived after Mary, the daughter of the divorced
Catherine of Spain came to power. Better known as
“Bloody Mary,” she remained loyal to the Catholic church that had
helped bring her to power.
8 She outlawed any preaching of the true Word of God. Many were burned at the stake or met
the executioner at the block simply for reading the Word of God in their native tongue. Her reign of terror lasted five years,
unleashing the full fury of the Catholic persecution against the truth and the glory of God’s Holy Word.
Yet even such a
terrible onslaught against the body of Christ could not prevail against the Word of God which is and shall be
preserved forever. English rule therefore became polarized between those that either opposed or supported the
pope.
9 “Bloody Mary” was succeeded by her protestant half sister, Elizabeth. The religious and political battles between
the church of England and the Roman Catholics continued at full pitch during her reign. Yet it was after the death of Queen
Elizabeth in 1603 that this battle came to its final conclusion under the new King of England, James the first.

Elizabeth, the daughter of Ann Boleyn died in 1603 with no heir to her throne. To promote a peaceful transfer of power
Elizabeth’s counselor, Robert Cecil, negotiated with the Scottish court to bring James VI of Scotland to the throne of
England.
10 Renamed King James I of England, he quickly consolidated his power in Parliament and then sought to
consolidate his power over the Anglican church.
He summoned a conference at Hampton Court to consider a petition
put forth by the Puritans for reform of the Anglican church on matters of worship and church rule.
At this
conference, King James reasserted his rule over the Anglican church and rejected a request for independent rule of the
church by a synod or presbytery. Although the reconciliation he had sought between the Anglican Church and the Puritans
fell short, from this
“failed” conference King James ordered that a new translation of the English Bible be given to the
church at the suggestion of Dr. John Reynolds, President of the Oxford College of Corpus Christi.

Upon the king’s approval,
six committees of England’s most learned scholars were set up at Oxford, Cambridge and
Westminster. Each committee worked independently on their assigned areas until they came to unanimous agreement on
their translated texts. Then a seventh committee reviewed the work of these six committees and again reached a unanimous
approval of the completed work.

In 1611, the authorized version was presented to King James allowing the general populace the right to possess
the complete Word of God in their native tongue. In several history books, we read of the alleged excesses of
King James’ court, false claims of his homosexuality, and his incompetence as a king. Yet the Bible that he
commissioned, that he authorized and that he distributed not only to England but all the world says in Matthew
7:18 that:

“A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”

If we judge the fruit of King James by the King James 1611 Authorized Version, the good fruit that he yielded
testifies that this king was a good tree bearing good fruit.
No matter how maligned this man is in our twentieth century
history books, his fruit prevails so that the Word of God remains unchanged in an age of no absolutes and contempt for
those things that are godly. The Bible states in John 15:16 that we should go forth and bear fruit and that our fruit should
remain. The King James Bible remains unchanged unto today, and is the lamp that lights the path unto our feet.
Winston
Churchill
writes of the lasting contribution that King James himself made in the 1611 authorized version that was produced
by the King’s printer:

“It won an immediate and lasting triumph. Copies could be bought for as little as five shillings, and even with the
inflated prices of today can still be purchased for this sum. It superseded all other versions. No new revision was
deemed necessary for nearly three hundred years. In the crowded emigrant ships which sailed to the New World
of America there was little room for baggage. If the adventurers took books with them they took the Bible,
Shakespeare, and later The Pilgrims Progress, and the Bible they mostly took was the Authorized Version of
King James I. About ninety million copies are thought to have been published in the English language alone. It
has been translated into more than seven hundred and sixty tongues. The Authorized Version is still the most
popular in England and the United States. This may be deemed James greatest achievement, for the impulse
was largely his! The Scottish pedant built better than he knew. The scholars who produced this masterpiece are
mostly unknown and unremembered. But they forged an enduring link, literary and religious, between the
English-speaking peoples of the world.”12

The fruits of the King James Bible generated the unshackling of the Roman Catholic hold over the hearts and minds of
people of England. Shortly after announcing the formation of the six translating committees, King James confronted the
Roman Catholics in England on their allegiance to the king verses their allegiance to the pope. In February of 1604, King
James ordered all Catholic priests to leave the country and in November reinstated
“recusancy fines.” These fines had
been ordained under the rule of Queen Elizabeth against any Catholic that did not attend the Church of England. As an act
of appreciation to the Jesuits for revealing a plot to overthrow his rule in 1603, James had originally rescinded these laws.
But he then became alarmed by the large numbers of Roman Catholics in England that came out of hiding once he removed
these restraints. Fearing the influence of papal authority over this large number of his subjects, James aggressively enforced
allegiance of all his subjects to his authority alone.
13

Enraged by this reversal, a small band of Roman Catholics secretly plotted a countrywide revolt against King James which
they planned to initiate with the destruction of Parliament and the murder of the king in a conspiracy now known as
“The
Gunpowder Plot.” This infamous plot was conceived by Robert Catesby.
14 He believed that he would be able to
rally the papist supporters in the Gentry after blowing up the Parliament building on the opening session on
November 5, 1605.
They rented a building next to Parliament and began a tunnel under the direction of Guy Faulks who
was a loyal Roman Catholic and an expert in the art of siege-tunneling.

“In May 1604, Thomas Wintour enlisted the help of a Yorkshire mercenary named Guy Fawkes who had
distinguished himself on the continent in the Spanish Army. With his vast experience of dangerous situations,
Fawkes was to be the man of action in a group which was growing quickly as Catesby persuaded relatives,
friends and colleagues to enter the conspiracy and help finance his plans. Robert Wintour, Christopher Wright,
Thomas Percy, John Grant, Ambrose Rokewood, Robert Keyes, Sir Everard Digby, Francis Tresham and
Catesby's servant, Thomas Bates all joined in the hazardous plot.”Copyright ©1999 Britannia.com, LLC
http://www.britannia.com/history/kaboom.html

The plot came to the knowledge of the authorities after one of the conspirators warned a relative not to attend the opening
of Parliament. Guy Faulks was discovered in the basement shortly before midnight on November fourth with thirty-six
barrels of gunpowder. The other conspirators were soon caught. Instead of bringing the fall of King James and Anglican rule
over the Church of England, Roman Catholic influence and papal power in England decidedly ended in the backlash against
this plot.
In “A History of England” by Clayton Roberts and David Roberts, we read:

“The Gunpowder Plot created the annual celebration of Guy Faulks Day, promoted antipopery for a century and
more, and provoked the passage of further penal laws against Catholics. But its significance does not end there.
It was in fact, the last fling of a politically engaged Catholicism. With its failure, Catholics turned away from
treason and thereby made possible the existence of a respectable Catholic community in England. This
development was abetted by a new oath of supremacy, which included an express denial of the Pope’s authority
to depose Kings. Those Catholics who took the oath, and they were many, became practically, if not legally,
exempt from the recusancy fines.” 15

Therefore, starting with the choice of an earthly king to produce the pure Word of God in the English language, the fruits of
this king were the unleashing of freedom from the pope, from the unholy inquisition and loosening the chains of repression
against the grace and truth of God’s Holy Word not only for England but throughout the world. The British Empire reigned
supreme for nearly three hundred years where the sun never set on its bountiful territories. And everywhere the British
Empire reigned, missionaries traveled with the good news of salvation preserved in the King James Bible. Perhaps, the
greatest experiment in human freedom was founded by our American forefathers in a government brought forth to champion
freedom of religion and the sovereignty of God alone. The Bible they read and studied is the fruit of the king named James.
In John 8:32 we read:

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The fruits of the King James Bible are literacy, knowledge, knowing the truth and reaping the
reward of freedom that our Lord promises to those that continue in His Word and believe on
Him (John 8:30-32). No amount of historical criticism can diminish the fruits of this one man
upon four hundred years of world history.
